A canal-side development with stunning views to the bridge over the River Lune, and Lancaster Castle.  The scheme responds to the challenge of a steeply sloping site and provides modern houses within a traditional streetscape.

The site sits in a prominent location with distant views of Lancaster Castle.  The project provides fifty-three new homes including houses, bungalows and apartments.

The site sits below the Lancaster Canal which is a biodiversity zone and is designed with new public open space which connects by a new footpath to the canal, increasing permeability and enhancing access to the biodiversity corridor.  The main site access provides a stunning backdrop to the bridge over the River Lune and the local stone terraces have been represented in this elevation.

Within the site a new public landscaped open space has been designed with informal play areas.  This green space is overlooked by houses, bungalows and apartments, it links to the Lancaster Canal by a gently sloping path.  This green space at the centre of the development provides a social space which connects the development to cycle routes and the city centre. The apartments overlook the canal and have patio areas and first floor balconies with a communal garden which provides a variety of amenity spaces throughout the development.

The homes are designed to Code for Sustainable Homes Level 3 and Secured by Design.  They all have parking spaces and garden amenity spaces.  The reconstituted stone complements the local stone of the neighbouring properties and the short terrace form provides modern homes with a traditional aesthetic.
