The building includes library, social club, outdoor swimming pool, police station, vets and outdoor sports facilities including a bowling green. The centre utilises a solar array to heat the swimming pool and the building form follows the rolling hills of Shropshire.
A new community centre replaced the old Miners Welfare Centre. Light and spacious, flexible and energy efficient the modern facility expresses the mining history of Sacriston through thematic brickwork design.
