A community-based masterplan for a neighbourhood characterised by housing market failure and urban deprivation.  The blueprint provided the catalyst to attract investment in new housing health and education facilities, a conservation area and a new ‘gateway’ into Liverpool.

HLP was appointed to prepare a blueprint for the Kensington area of Liverpool, part of the inner core characterised by housing market failure and urban deprivation.

HLP developed a community-based masterplan through an intensive programme of community engagement.  The plan was based on a neighbourhood approach and demonstrated a high degree of consensus for a range of projects aimed at regenerating five sub-neighbourhoods.

The blueprint embodied an implementation strategy and an urban design guide adopted by the community.  It tackled a wide range of physical and social issues through an integrated approach with broad community support.
