Clifton Gardens is a development of twenty-four new homes within the grounds of the Grade II listed Turner Home, a historic house which has operated continuously as a home for retired people since 1885. In partnership with Turner Home and Liverpool Housing Trust, HLP’s master plan helps to establish a sense of place for the development that is unique to the setting of the Home.

The robust built and natural forms of the new development help to establish a sense of place unique to the setting of the Turner Home.

The landscape draws the existing character of the grounds through to create a parkland setting for the houses.  Integral to the development, a new public wildlife park sits at the interface between the Home and the new houses.  Enhanced by structural trees, a dramatic framed vista of the historic building’s facade is created through a strategically positioned break in the building form, originating from a popular public open space to the south and providing a visual connection between the green open spaces.

Native and wildlife friendly tree, shrub and wildflower species were chosen to extend wildlife corridors and link to nearby ecological resources.
