HLP's comprehensive remodelling and refurbishment of two high profile high rise estates has responded to the residents’ and clients’ requirement for improved external spaces by developing attractive landscape environments that engender community interaction and provide opportunities for healthy lifestyles.

Produced through extensive community and client consultation, the site designs absorb the requirement for car access and parking and help to integrate interior and exterior spaces; they capture sunlight, shadow and microclimate factors and respond to cues from the urban and heritage context.

The parkland setting to the tower blocks creates a secure campus that provides a rich physical and visual resource, including a variety of spatial sizes and uses. Designs create community gardens with active and passive leisure opportunities, well-lit circulation networks, provision of intimate protected spaces associated with ground floor flats and enhance the inherent value of the landscape and the local biodiversity.
