Since joining the practice in 1996, Alan has acquired a wealth of experience in masterplanning and urban design, new build and refurbishment projects for both the private and public sectors.
A talented artist, Alan has been at the forefront of many of the Practices design projects, producing conceptual designs and illustrative ideas and solutions for a variety of projects. His innovative sketch designs have formed the basis for many of the exhibitions throughout the practice and are a valuable development tool for informing clients and communities. His work has also contributed extensively to project brochures.
Alan is also a lead architect within the practice, running medium and large scale projects in the education, health and community sectors and has experience in heritage work including Grade I Listed Buildings. His approachable down to earth demeanour and communicative skills have enabled him to lead on many of the practices consultation events for large scale housing and master planning projects across the country.
Most recently he has been working with local communities designing a number of new build housing in Oldham and Wigan on challenging infill sites.
Alan has also worked on a number of estate remodelling projects, most recently an existing sixties ex-council housing estate on the edge of the Oldham City Centre for First Choice Homes Oldham. The award winning refurbishment / regeneration involved the overcladding of existing maisonette blocks and terraced housing to improve thermal performance and reduce energy consumption and with the innovation of coloured render, to provide identity to the area.
