Geoff Lloyd
B.Arch (Hons) Liverpool, RIBA, MaPS
Senior Partner, Architect and CDM Coordinator
Geoff is an experienced and award-winning architect who became a
member of Halsall Lloyd Partnership in 1979, when he brought to the
practice his wealth of experience in both public and private sector
housing, commercial and conservation work. Adding to this, during
the early years he developed the practice’s expertise in special
needs housing and refurbishment.
In 1986 he became the Managing Partner,
responsible for the development and management of both the Liverpool
office and the practice as a
whole. Under his guidance HLP has grown from one small office to
a 60-strong practice, with four offices based in the North and
Midlands, which undertake commissions throughout England and Wales.
As
the practice’s conservation specialist, Geoff has worked
extensively with English Heritage, CADW and Heritage Lottery,
on projects including a 13th Century Grade 1 listed church, and
HLP’s
own offices housed in a listed Georgian building.
Geoff has been
able to use his vast experience in urban and estate regeneration
and stock transfer to successfully resolve urban
problems, implementing practical solutions to enable the revitalization
of
these areas. He has a long-held conviction that for community
regeneration to succeed there has to be meaningful local participation
and extensive
user consultation, something in which he and the practice excel.
An important part of his role as Managing Partner is keeping abreast
of the latest Government funding initiatives and changing
housing
and regeneration policies, in order to guide clients through
the issues they raise and the potential benefits to be accrued.
Examples
of this include Housing Corporation funding, stock transfer,
and estate regeneration initiatives, and contractual procedures
such
as partnering.
Geoff has been a qualified CDM Coordinator
since the regulations were first introduced and initiated a training
programme for
senior staff to enable the practice to offer CDM Coordination
services
in all four offices.
He has been an assessor for the Housing
Design Awards on several occasions, an RIBA regional councillor,
and is
a past President
of the Liverpool Architectural Society.
